Padma : Telugu Text Transformer

Having seen so many folks happily blogging in telugu wondered how I could join them. A little bit of searching, and this is what I stumbled upon. Pretty cool program. Ive seen similar stuff for French, German etc, but am quite amazed that we have it for telugu too.

Now that I am aware of this, the challenge will be to use it, and to get it to really be ‘correct’

for ex – the telugu script should read “this is so much fun, try it here” instead it reads
“థిస్ ఇస్ సొ ముచ్ ఫున్, త్ర్య్ ఇత్ హెరె ” = “dhis is so mooch fun, thry ith here”
Quite hilarious.

edo nathi dani laga = ఎదొ నథ్హి దని లగ [which is incorrect when read in telugu]
BUT
edO nattHi dAni lAga = ఎదో నత్థి దాని లాగ [which sounds and looks like how I really want to say]

That’s RTS for you! Ive always seen folks write it this way, especially in Sulekha – good ol times, when it was infested with telugus – but didnt bother learning it. Too many CAPS imo, but I guess that was the right way to write!!

Interesting to say the least.

You should try getting an IME, such as Microsoft’s Bhasha Indic IME. You could check out the Telugu tab, there is a lot of good stuff out there, that you can use.

IMEs come in two forms, one being phonetic (i.e., you can type the content in English phonemes) and the other being a keyboard layout, unique to each language.

    Goodluck exploring! 🙂
