This was a forward some time ago and occasionally still shows up. It’s a nice measure, depending on how vulnerable, and introspective a woman feels at that point in time. I saw this at Chandni’s blog, and here I am reposting it, with my own comments. As a woman, do I know what’s expected of me according to this little fwd.

Hey, it’s fun and dwelling in such is what my brain and my soul needs right now.

A WOMAN SHOULD HAVE …
enough money within her control to move out
and rent a place of her own,
even if she never wants to or needs to…
( If we talking earning power, I suppose I always had it, just didn’t use it)

A WOMAN SHOULD HAVE ….
something perfect to wear if the employer, or date of her dreams wants to see her in an hour…
(Yes I do!)

A WOMAN SHOULD HAVE ..
a youth she’s content to leave behind….
(Behind? Excuse me, am still right in the middle of it! heh, okay, yes, I actually do)

A WOMAN SHOULD HAVE …
a past juicy enough that she’s looking forward to retelling it in her old age….
(O Absolutely!)

A WOMAN SHOULD HAVE …
a set of screwdrivers, a cordless drill, and a black lace bra…
(er, I can’t believe this, but I actually do (no, the husband didn’t buy the tools but I did!) and know how to use them too!)

A WOMAN SHOULD HAVE …
one friend who always makes her laugh… and one who lets her cry…
(Yes and Yes, Hallelujah for that!)

A WOMAN SHOULD HAVE …
a good piece of furniture not previously owned by anyone else in her family.
(O yes, well, for a second there I read the line without the “NOT” and panicked. Of course, I mean, heirlooms? Yearight, like I dropped out of some royal family! We built from scratch. Yeah!)

A WOMAN SHOULD HAVE …
eight matching plates, wine glasses with stems,
and a recipe for a meal,
that will make her guests feel honored…
(Yes yes, I sure hope so for the menu, but the china, yes, I do and pretty ones too!)

A WOMAN SHOULD HAVE …
a feeling of control over her destiny…
(er, um, okay, hmm… alright, see this is how I look at it. I try. I really do. Like as in I have the FEELING of control, but really, in practicality, who does? I mean, for example: I donno for a fact I can dance for the Jan event, but am gonna try and FEEL that I can. Will that help? I donno, and no one would until Jan 11th, correct? So yea, for now, let’s just shelve this?)

(umm.. I think so, yes.)

how to quit a job,
break up with a lover,
and confront a friend without;
ruining the friendship…
(Yes@job, er, I donno@break up. I’ve never had to confront a friend, am bad at it, so if there’s one thing I wish for that’s for me not to have to get down to it. Am extremely good at getting aggressive and confrontational when there are no emotions involved. What a sucker I am!)

EVERY WOMAN SHOULD KNOW…when to try harder… and WHEN TO WALK AWAY…
(Oh yes, very proud of myself on the ability to differentiate the two too!)

EVERY WOMAN SHOULD KNOW…
that she can’t change the length of her calves,
the width of her hips, or the nature of her parents..
(lol, yes, I know. Sadly true, but yes, they will remain the same. All of them.)

EVERY WOMAN SHOULD KNOW…
that her childhood may not have been perfect….but its over…
(Er, again, excuse me? I am not yet done being a child! )

EVERY WOMAN SHOULD KNOW…
what she would and wouldn’t do for love or more…
(Yes yes, well educated I believe.)

EVERY WOMAN SHOULD KNOW…
how to live alone… even if she doesn’t like it…
(Now that I think about it, I’ve never lived alone. WOW! I’d actually like it am sure.. )

EVERY WOMAN SHOULD KNOW..
whom she can trust,
whom she can’t,
and why she shouldn’t take it personally…
(hmm.. again, a learned art. Working on it.)

EVERY WOMAN SHOULD KNOW…
where to go…
be it to her best friend’s kitchen table…
or a charming inn in the woods…
when her soul needs soothing…
(Yes, I believe I know. It’s my blog where else!? I know, pathetic no?)

EVERY WOMAN SHOULD KNOW…
what she can and can’t accomplish in a day…a month…and a year…
(yep, I do, sometimes I get greedy, but do-able. If you can’t wrap it up in one day, there’s always another day rt?)
