In memory of Valentine’s day this Saturday, Totally Optional Prompts suggested an aubade.
Aubades are poems begging and tempting and pleading with a lover not to leave. You can read some examples here and a song by Jewel here.
I’ve heard of tagelied; the early morning song. This when I was doing a bit of reading after I heard the spectacularly haunting melody of Carmina Burana (O Fortuna’s an all-time favorite) at Brussels. I believe I wrote on it a bit in my usual hop-skipping way from Carmina to Poirot to Falafels. So when I read this post at TOP, I was curious and went on to discover that it is indeed a variation of the tagelied.

Read a feeble attempt of an aubade that I submit to TOP, here.
(ps: I will not be continuing to link to the cesmots.com henceforth, and I plan on writing there more frequently. Would appreciate if you could please add to bookmarks or readers. Only if you’d like to that is. Thank you.)
