hello again

So I just came back from having lunch with sb, wife, and 2 kids. His kids are so cute, and quiet. Especially compared to mine!

That will probably be my very first face-to-face meeting with someone I met through the blog. I was a little apprehensive on how it would be, but it was quite simple and straightforward. Like meeting old acquaintances after many years. Nice!

So I was wondering on my way back who else would be interesting to meet. Came up with a few of course –

Archana, Dushti when I am in SFO area, maybe early next year.

Pilgrim, Joey right around the corner here. Maybe KC can wing a trip up here sometime next year with his girl. OK depending on his moodswings 🙂

Lakshmi, Baliga when I go to Chennai.

Karthik, sometime, somewhere I donno where…

Rest am clueless where they are but yeah, should be fun. Right?

What say?

Hahaha! That sounds like a plan. I do travel a lot, so you never know. Actually, it’s rather unfortunate that Delana is now in Cincinnati – she used to be stationed in Virginia until a while back, and I used to travel to VA a fair bit.

It’s funny you mentioned meeting bloggers. I just finished reading “Five People You Meet in Heaven,” and I was thinking about five bloggers I’d like to meet in this world itself.

  3. Pilgrim will make this pilgrimage only if he is assured of a prasad at the end of the journey. And as I am dreaming of a six course meal and either reaching your house or seeing images of you carrying a tiffin carrier and hotpots and casseroles with all the food and meeting me.

Btw, my address as Amitji once crooned,
Prem Gali, Kholi No 420, if you would like to send me an invite to meet you.

Pilgrim – If that’s a bait, am not falling for it. I can take a picture and send it, you can do pet-puja with it 😛
Invitations? Sure, evite should do, or did you want the whole arathi, fruits, betel leaves, supari shebang? :–p

Terri – O right Hawaii, how could I forget! 🙂 So spill Terri, whom would you like to meet.
Isn’t that the same guy who wrote Tuesdays with Morrie. It’s on my list at the library.

Metlin – I know! ..and the thing is I work close to Quantico these days! Maybe you’d spring a conference in DC or something? 🙂

lol, ok, a few logical flaws

    1. Who cares for names? :p
    2. ‘ever’ seems such an extreme statement considering who knows what’s happening to any of us next minute!
    3. Beg – now, now, creativity does not beget extremeness! Agree? 🙂

    😉

  6. says: Ok

Present conditions say mood is sunny with clear blue sky:). So yes I will definitely drop in for the 6 course meal and to watch K3 dance:).

If you are too busy to cook you can buy me lunch, breaker, tea, or, dinner at Hilton. Thats where the conference is. And even if you dont show up send K3.

So we will meet. The question is whether you are going to meet a quite Ok or a really talkative one is subject to doubt.

cool cool, when i initially saw s.b’s comment, it said anonymous. So i thought s.b stood for somebody :). Hope he has a real name after tht 🙂

btw just wanted to dig in thru some of ur old stuff, but where is ur search functionality?

  8. says: rads

Baliga – I so am! 🙂 Rooting for a Dec trip, lemme see..

Dushti – Thanks girl 🙂 Yes, will do!

Mav – Yes, he does, and sb is somebody alright! 🙂
hmm.. lemme see if I can add that on, if not check blogger. All older posts are intact there. Thanks 🙂

OK – lol, okay. Sure we could do either depending on how much free time you have considering you might be hitting georgetown or/and all the bars in DC area once the nerdy stuff’s taken care of! :p
hehe, I didn’t think there was a doubt on sb 🙂

Presdig – I’d love to! On my list of places to visit…

  9. Rads,

As I understand that you are open to give/cook a six course meal to ‘ok’ and the photograph of that meal to me with a Evite invitation and “arathi, fruits, betel leaves, supari shebang”. I wonder what is the actual reason of you meeting me!

I wonder what kind of bait did ok dangle in front of you, I guess it must surely be the Georgetown party scene!

I guess, it is a better deal to continue my every week pilgrimage of the bars, lounges and clubs in Georgetown and ‘coincidentally’ meet you there.

    😛

thx for adding the search. It helps and i just wanted to track the reply to my comment in d post where the girl breaks up with the guy bcos he’s wearing a magenta color shirt. But i think it was somewhere else.

  11. says: rads

Mav – lol, I’d dump him too if he wore a magenta shirt! 😀

Pilgrim – this is becoming like a conspiratory theory! Yes, yes, let’s meet at Murali lounge 😀

    rads:

thanks for the nice words about my family and me :-). it was fun meeting you, though we did not have a lot of time! btw, had i made a trip video of my kids, you would be more than willing to take back all you wrote about them being quiet. that said, they are obviously quiet around people they are meeting for the first time in an alien environment.

would the current post be construed as you pulling a kerry or a clinton?

  13. says: Ok

S.b, s.b., s.b., what do I do with you? Sigh! How many times have I explained that thanking people, being modest, and worse, being nice, simply doesn’t suit our image.

So when rads says your kids are better than hers, you should have nodded in agreement.

Sigh! You go on thanking people and I might have to consider impeaching. BTW, you are President of the MFRC (Make fun of Rads Club). I am the treasurer:D.

  14. says: some body

    ok:

hey, i agreed with what rads said (with a minor caveat) … and thanked her.

    tdna:

i said “people they are meeting … in an alien environment,” not “aliens they are meeting … in friendly environment!” 😉 and anyway, in this case, i am the alien, not rads – she is 100% citizen!

oh! s.b agreed to come over for a meet. When he was in India, couple of bloggers were meeting and had planned to watch a play too..
s.b said he was not comfortble travelling to the other part of the city since he knows just the MG Road area! and we missed meeting the s.b the great… Now a days, bloggers meet has become very common and great thing is we never feel that we are meeting strangers but ya, when we meet in a group..its so funny to identify their faces with their names.. some turn out to be so different than what we would have thought!..
    Rads, Nice blog you have.

    veena:

ha ha! it is easier for me to drive 1900 miles than be driven five km. anyways, next time for sure, i’ll meet you all, will be definitely fun :-).

    rads:

didn’t you write about male ego some time back? 😉

to be honest, it is probably easier to meet as a group – you are much more likely to hit it off with someone in the group. with individuals, you need to be sure(r) you will hit it off before you meet and, of course, that you have the time to meet.

it would be really nerdy to go some far off place just to meet a blog pal (you can tell that ‘nerdiness’ is not something i want to be associated with)! there was an article that someone sent me recently about nerdiest vacations (and that was #1).

    – s.b.

  17. says: rads

    sb – yes, agree.

No idea on why you reference male ego though.. and specifically my post on it. I was mad at someone and it sure wasn’t the husband 🙂

  18. says: some body

    rads:

didn’t terri recently write about how the men drove in one car and the ladies in another? such things happen everywhere (‘ghar ghar kee kahaanee’) … though you are right in a sense, my analogy was not very good, as there are not many lady auto (or cab) drivers – yet – in bengalooru :-).

    – s.b.

  19. says: Veena

hmmmm…….Next time would be another 2 years ?
By then wordpress would provide some feature like video conferencing(your monitor may work as a camera or connect your cell phone?) and people would stop meeting but use this wordpress video conferencing..!
