Off to LA/San Diego for an entire 6 days. I am nervous with excitement, it’s hard packing! It’s our Christmas gift rolled into a yearly family vacation for us. Yayy.
o, and the husband insisted I buy something for myself and like a true idiot when put on a spot and asked “what do you want?” – I give him the deer in headlights look, stared, fumbled, stuttered and threw my hands up in despair. Finally, the daughter chose me a gold sunburst pendant with a single diamond nestled within the sun. Later on in the evening, a choice family member drove in all the way from Michigan in ice, snow and freezing rain to show off her iphone and I kicked myself all the way back home lamenting “why didn’t I think of that?!”
Such is life and gifts for me. I know, am hard to satisfy, and quite an ingrate by the looks of it!
The munchkin bursts into this song at unexpected moments to our sheer delight, as she shakes her head, rolls her eyes with drama and flourish, hands on hips as she wags a little finger at us, and checks each of us off, if we’ve been good!
Just like she asks us, every few hours – I ask you? Have you been good? 😉

As Christmas carols go, I’m particularly partial to Jingle Bells’ French flavour, Vive le vent. (Yes, we were singing this in a Christmas Eve party.)
Never really liked the desi Twelve Days; always felt the humour there was rather superficial, and that it didn’t “flow” naturally. (Then again, so does most ABCD “humour”) Instead, I’d recommend an acapella version instead, for your carol-humour fix this year.
