potpourri – 1

pot.pour.ri – [poh-poo-ree, poh-poo-ree]noun

1. a mixture of dried petals of roses or other flowers with spices, kept in a jar for their fragrance. 2. a musical medley.
3. a collection of miscellaneous literary extracts.
4. any mixture, esp. of unrelated objects, subjects, etc.

I wouldn’t go so far as classify my scribbles as “literary” but words they sure are. Thought I’d jot down a few this and that happenings and thoughts for later reads. The ones that really can’t be elaborated into complete posts for the lact of interest or for fear of judgement or otherwise.

1. Gmail is down. Again. It amuses me to no end that am this dependant on it. After being floored with gmail’s organizational skills I’d shifting out most of my communications to flow through it and now I wonder if such a move was indeed a wise decision. Murphy’s laws have an uncanny way of coming true in my life.

2. Had a good medical scare recently, and am now relieved that whatever it was that was playing chicken with me has been relegated to a figment of mine and my doctor’s imagination. ..and we thought medicine and doctors are logical science nuts. All I can say is “Ladies, reduce that caffeine, if the boss/work is stressing you, give them a kick than downing mugfuls of coffee” That is of course if you have enough drama in your life and are precariously dangling by the edge.

3. Claiming what is rightfully yours is like pulling teeth. I just don’t get why people’s memories fail when it comes to owing $. The charade is a never ending circus, each time a different clown juggling nonsense. Ok, am a little peeved.

4. I wish someone told me that a mom cannot afford to be lazy. I wouldn’t have applied for the position.

5. It doesn’t matter what kind of a genius you are or if you are hard-working or heck even lucky, if you don’t have time-management skills, you are doomed. Now try teaching that to couldnt-care-less tweens!

6. The public library awes me every time I go in. I am not sure growing up if I would have liked even half the resources kids these days have. No, not saying that I’d have bloomed a success, but the chance of a hugely confused adult would have been a high probability… There’s always a flip side to life huh?

7. Gmail is stilllll down. Seriously!

I align with you on quite a few things. A point-by-point breakdown (with some gaps) would go like this:

    1. not a problem for me — I am extremely disorganized πŸ™‚

    2. can relate to you very well on this one. being a cancerian, whenever there is a health scare my imagination runs riot. There, thats my excuse, whats yours?

    3. do you mean pulling teeth is next to impossible or its incredibly painful? Jeez.. something tells me that my dentist, one with that evil laughter is already rubbing his hands in glee.

    6. totally agreed. plentiful resources. i watched every oscar winning classic from the 1940s-60s by renting from the public library πŸ™‚

balaji – It’s amazing isn’t it? The whole idea running on Tax dollars is just mind-blowing.

baliga – any consolation Indian kapi is quite milky, here I was washing down a mug of coffee with 1 creamer. That’s a lot of caffeine. You should be fine πŸ™‚

dilip – you can answer by point for a disorganized person :p
Just being a mom has its own banes and boons – a health scare is not nicely taken when you have “responsibilities” rt? πŸ™‚
I hate dentists. The thought of the chair make my teeth rattle by themselves.
oooo@movies. Ours has more books than videos from Hollywood. All good I say πŸ™‚

good to know all’s well health wise….but ain’t it a pity that you can already hear those squeaky joints…we are only going to have to work harder going forward!
and nope, you can’t even take a sick leave …as a mom, that is, learnt it after the fact of course!
time-management/ sense of urgency- unknown entities- talkinn about my almost 4 yr old of course πŸ™‚

Commented on the po’hawk in your previous psot πŸ™‚

Yes orchid – and so we trudge on πŸ™‚

Don’t kill me but we may not fly to your land after all. All points were noted though.. thank you πŸ™‚

You are not coming to Texas? Oh well, you are not missing much. Planning on going anywhere else?

  7. says: Deepa

Health scare – I know what it does to you. A doctor asked to undergo tests to make sure I dont have cancer. His tone conveyed it was just a “test to make sure..” but scared the wits out of people who heard about that impending test from me.:-)

  8. says: rads

No idea Dilip, maybe somewhere driveable…

deepa – tell me abt it! The words are like little missiles..

Rads – glad that the health scare just turned out to be a scare :-)! Ah, tell me about dependency on Gmail – do they have a Gmail-ers Anonymous anywhere ;-)? Libraries rule :-))!
