So I am an ardent believer in Google. Occasionally, I goof off with its various products. Google maps after Google Earth is my favorite. I like to see how distant cities and places are and the popular routes the directions are given in.
Sometimes I get ambitious, a fancy way of saying ridiculous or even better ludicrous. So you ask, what I did. Well, I kept putting in various places I’d like to go from Washington DC. Most were mainland US, and scattered all over. Google faithfully obliged.
And then I typed Brussels, Belgium.
I’d have expected the maps to come up with a cartoon saying ‘na na na na’ or ‘You moron, there isn’t a bridge across – yet, come back in 2091 and maybe you’d get lucky’ or a more stern ‘no route available/found’ or something more practical like”try a flight, you cheapo”
But heck no, the guys did think of it all. While designing this piece of artwork, they asked themselves “hmm, what if rads one day asks us the map to go back to her favorite city in the world, what should we tell her?” and the chief said “well, if she’s a smart-ass, we are no less, let’s show her what we got!” ..and so they tried.
Pay specific attention to step 21.
Anyone join me for a good swim?
ahahha. Well, I came across this blog randomly with the wonderful “Next Blog” button up above. And the swim across the atlantic ocean thing was definitely funny.
In the book, Chinese Takeout by Arthur Nersesian (which I really recommend), the guy swims across the East River (or was it Hudson?). But yeah, it’s as close to swimming across the atlantic ocean as i can think of.
well yeah. excuse this very useless, long comment.

ROFL :-D! Super steps – so, have you got your swimming gear all ready ;-P?
Interesting. It’s a really specific hack, though. Coz Seattle->Tokyo doesn’t work, nor does say, Seattle->Hyderabad, india.
Yea these google guys are absolutely hillarious!!!! Try from DC to chennai and they say driving directions unavaliable. But anywhere in Eurpoe they have it covered!!!!!!!
Must be in yet another beta verison they will include the rest of the globe!
This is funny 🙂

You have a nice little space for yourself, and I love the template. Very catchy 🙂
I don’t trust google at all. It has too much access to my data…
Anyway.. I posted something after a long time…

LOL. I have done that before but it with London.
hahaha! 🙂 Yeah…I’ve seen this before.
But somehow this time around Big G gave this message – ‘We could not calculate directions between Washington, DC and City of Brussels, Belgium.’ :O
Perhaps they read your post? 😉
lol, sure, I can pretend that they heard me a lowly consumer :p
